Below you will find all VAT, tax, and customs rules that apply depending on your country of residence.
1. VAT-Free Purchases for Non-EU Customers & VAT-Registered Companies
Customers outside the European Union, as well as EU businesses with a valid VAT number, can purchase from LaboDiamonds.com without paying Belgian VAT.
Your order will be exported from Belgium with a 0% VAT rate, fully insured and trackable.
Important Note
Although LaboDiamonds.com does not charge VAT for exports, your local customs authorities may apply import VAT and/or duties upon arrival.
These charges vary per country and are the responsibility of the customer.
We strongly recommend confirming local tax regulations before placing a VAT-free order.
2. VAT Refund for Non-EU Tourists Shopping Inside the EU
Non-EU visitors who purchase items in Belgium and take them out of the EU within 3 months are entitled to a full VAT refund.

Proof of non-EU residency (passport or equivalent)
Minimum purchase value: €125 (excl. VAT)
Goods must be shown to EU Customs upon departure
Invoice must be stamped by Customs

Refund Timeline
Refunds are processed quarterly, based on when we receive your original stamped documents:
Q1 received by April 8 → Refund late May – mid-June
Q2 received by July 8 → Refund late August – mid-September
Q3 received by October 8 → Refund late November – mid-December
Q4 received by January 8 → Refund late February – mid-March
Refund Options
Full refund: 100% VAT refunded (standard processing time 1–4 months)
Fast refund: 80% VAT refunded within 8 working days (subject to approval)
3. Customs Classification for Lab-Grown Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are exported under the HS Code 7104.90 (synthetic gemstones).
This may result in different import duty rates compared to natural diamonds in certain countries.
While LaboDiamonds.com provides accurate export declarations, local taxes and duties are determined by your country’s customs authorities, not by us.

Customs fees typically include:
Entry fee: $120
Duty: approx. 5.5% of invoice value
MPF: 0.34%
Single-entry bond: $3.50 per $1,000
All fees are payable to the courier before delivery.
🇦🇺 Australia — Tax-Free from Our Side
We do not charge VAT/GST.
Shipping: 3–5 working days, fully insured.
Upon arrival in Australia:
Loose lab-grown diamonds: 10% GST
Lab-grown jewelry: 10% GST + 5% import duty
LabODiamonds.com is not responsible for Australian customs charges.
